Managing Member

As a Managing Member of Southwest Rock Products, LLC., it is Chris’s responsibility to oversee and manage the daily operations of one of the largest producers of construction aggregates in the southwestern United States. Chris has over 43 years of experience in the construction aggregate sector with various companies. His career began working as an oiler with a small local crushing company and progressed to Southwest Regional Manager of Cemex’s aggregate division. With his vast experience and knowledge of aggregate operations from top to bottom, Chris was equipped to start his own company. Chris’s success with Southwest Rock Products, LLC., as well as his philosophy, is the result of doing things right the first time. With the assistance of his senior management team, Chris aspires to grow Southwest Rock Products, LLC. to locations in other states throughout the southwestern United States.

Steven Hood
Managing Member

As a Managing Member of Southwest Rock Products, LLC., it is Steven’s responsibility to make executive decisions that drive the company toward success, as well as oversee and manage the sales force and quality control sectors of the company. As one of the owners of Southwest Rock Products, LLC., Steve’s decisions and direction helped the company grow to be one of the largest producers of construction aggregates in the southwestern United States. Steven has 34+ years of experience in the construction aggregate and ready-mix concrete sectors. He has held almost every position, both in the office and in the field, with companies ranging in size from small producers to multi-national aggregate and ready-mix corporations. Focusing his attention on sales in order to affect the company’s growth, Steven was the driving force behind developing a sales backlog of millions of tons of aggregate across Southwest Rock Products, LLC.’s numerous locations. The result was record sales, month after month, with no end in sight. Equipped with his years of industry knowledge, Steven continues to propel the company’s success.

Sean Clifford
Vice President of Operations

As the Vice President of Operations at Southwest Rock Products, LLC., it is Sean’s responsibility to oversee and manage the operations of one of the biggest sand and gravel companies in the southwestern United States. Sean has over 27 years of experience in the construction aggregate industry with various companies. Sean joined Southwest Rock Products, LLC. in 1999 as an equipment operator, and two years later, skyrocketed up the ranks to become a supervisor. The company has grown considerably since 1999 when it started as a small three-man crew on a small, leased piece of property, in which Sean was a member. Now, Southwest Rock Products, LLC. has 11 active mining operations, all of which Sean is in charge of. He is well aware of the hard work and long hours necessary to manage such a massive workload; he routinely puts in 70+ hours a week to ensure that tasks integral to daily operations are completed. Sean’s unrelenting work ethic drives Southwest Rock Products, LLC.’s pursuit to become the largest sand and gravel company in the southwestern United States.

Dorene Rounds
Chief Financial Officer

As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Southwest Rock Products, LLC., it is Dorene’s responsibility to oversee all accounting functions and be an auditing expert in charge of internal accounting controls for one of the largest producers of construction aggregates in the southwestern United States. Dorene has over 36 years of experience in accounting with various companies. She joined Southwest Rock Products, LLC. in 2010 as a member of the accounts receivable team and, within a few years, was elevated into the role of Controller. Showing an incredible proficiency for managing accounting processes, producing financial reports and setting company budgets, Dorene was swiftly promoted to CFO of the company and made a member of the company’s senior management team. Southwest Rock Products, LLC.’s growth over the last four years is in large part attributed to Dorene’s hard work and dedication.

John Palmer
Vice President of Environmental, Health and Safety

As the Vice President of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) at Southwest Rock Products, LLC., it is John’s responsibility to direct and manage all safety and environmental-related tasks at one of the largest producers of construction aggregates in the southwestern United States. John has over 13 years of experience in the environmental and safety sectors, both as a consultant and in private industry. As mining is an inherently dangerous industry, John works diligently not only to meet, but exceed regulations and standards from the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Relationships with government agencies are key, according to John, who has an incredible working relationship with all local, state and federal agencies that regulate the activities of Southwest Rock Products, LLC. Not only does John handle all EHS-related duties at the company, he also takes on tasks such as real estate acquisitions, public relations, and, as a member of the company’s senior management team, makes decisions integral to the continued growth of Southwest Rock Products, LLC.

Steve Darland
Production Manager

As the Production Manager at Southwest Rock Products, LLC., it is Steve’s responsibility to oversee and manage the crushing and screening operations at all Southwest Rock Products, LLC. locations. Steve joined the team at Southwest Rock Products, LLC. in 2007 as a welder-mechanic for the company, welding, repairing and fabricating various pieces of equipment. He arrived with extensive abilities in a multitude of areas including welding, fabrication, equipment maintenance, equipment operation and as a machinist. It was not long after that Steve showed the traits necessary to direct and manage a crew of miners and he was promoted to Portable Operations Supervisor. Fast-forward 10 years and Steve has exceeded all expectations that had been set for him, which has led him to be promoted to Production Manager of the company. Steve’s years of experience, skill in all areas of sand and gravel mining and an unequalled drive to succeed have made him an indispensable member of Southwest Rock Products, LLC’s team.

Connor Carhart
Operations Supervisor

As an Operations Supervisor at Southwest Rock Products, LLC., it is Connor’s responsibility to oversee and manage the stationary mining and wash plant operations at the Peoria location and the portable mining operations at the Glendale location, both of which are in the Phoenix-metro area. Connor joined Southwest Rock Products, LLC.’s workforce in 2016 as an experienced welder. Years of welding experience and training, as well as supervision duties, gave Connor the necessary tools to exceed management’s expectations and be promoted to Peoria Site Supervisor in 2017. In 2017, Core Materials placed a batch plant at the Peoria mine site, which increased the demand of materials and added another facet of management that Connor was tasked with. With proficiency shown in managing those tasks, Connor was given a portable operation to manage on top of his supervision duties at the Peoria mine site in 2018. Today, Connor successfully juggles his myriad of responsibilities like a seasoned professional in the industry. Showing great maturity for his age (25 years old), Connor will continue to evolve and progress with Southwest Rock Products, LLC., becoming integral to the company’s future success.

Operations Supervisor/Fleet Manager

As an Operations Supervisor/Fleet Manager at Southwest Rock Products, LLC., it is Jason’s responsibility to oversee and manage the portable mining operations at the Queen Creek #1 and #2 locations, as well as manage maintenance and repair activities for the company’s fleet of vehicles and equipment. Jason has over 22 years of experience in both metal and non-metal mining operations with various companies. His professional experience spans the spectrum of duties for a mining operation: equipment operator, safety trainer all the way to mine superintendent. Jason began with Southwest Rock Products, LLC. as an equipment operator. Two years later, a supervisory/fleet manager role opened up and Jason’s experience made his promotion into that role a no-brainer. Jason brings a wealth of training, experience and a safety-first mindset that not only ensures that miners that work under his tutelage work safely, they also produce at a high level. It is experienced, management-level personnel like Jason that provide Southwest Rock Products, LLC. with a strong core with which to develop employees and grow the company beyond expectations.

Hector Andrade
Operations Supervisor

As an Operations Supervisor at Southwest Rock Products, LLC., it is Hector’s responsibility to oversee and manage the crushing and screening operations at multiple facilities in the eastern portion of the Phoenix-Metro area. Hector joined Southwest Rock Products, LLC. in 2016 as a crusher operator that had no previous mining experience. From the get-go, Hector hit the ground running, quickly learning how to run a sand and gravel plant safely and effectively. It was apparent early that Hector was extremely reliable, had an amazing work ethic and an unrelenting desire to succeed. Two years later, after mastering the crusher operator position, Hector showed interest in diversifying his abilities with the company and learned to run the company’s largest piece of equipment: the Caterpillar 988 series front-end loader. With all of Hector’s personal attributes, coupled with his abilities with Southwest Rock Products, LLC’s various pieces of equipment, management offered Hector the opportunity to take the next step in his career and become a supervisor. Hector has shown that he is more than capable of being successful in a supervisory role and will help Southwest Rock Products, LLC. continue to grow, while mentoring the next generation of crusher and equipment operators.

White Mountain Region Operations Supervisor

As the White Mountain Region Operations Supervisor at Southwest Rock Products, LLC., it is Roger’s responsibility to oversee and manage the crushing, screening and wash plant operations, as well as market materials, at multiple facilities in the white mountain region of Arizona. Roger became a member of Southwest Rock Products, LLC. team in 2010 in a management capacity after Southwest Rock Products, LLC. acquired the company that Roger previously worked for. Roger has over 11 years of mining experience, which includes managing up to 3 concrete ready-mix batch plants and 2 sand and gravel mine site operations at one time. Roger also has 16 years of experience in the construction industry as an owner/operator. He has done labor work, ran heavy equipment, and, as an owner, Roger knows the work that has to be put into a company for it to be successful. With his experience and knowledge, he was the ideal person to manage the white mountain operations for Southwest Rock Products, LLC.

David Beckel
Quality Control Manager

As the Quality Control Manager of Southwest Rock Products, LLC., it is David’s responsibility to oversee and manage the quality control of one of the largest construction aggregate producers in the Southwestern United States. David joined Southwest Rock Products, LLC. in 2014 and was immediately impactful in improving the quality of aggregate materials produced at every location. David has over 24 years of experience in the construction aggregate sector, specifically with aggregate production, testing and quality control. Originally from Minnesota, David did not miss a beat transitioning from the geological diversity of material in Minnesota to the intricate composition of Arizona’s dry washes, riverbeds, basalt formations and igneous granite. Another of David’s tasks is working with the multitude of cities in the Phoenix-metro area to streamline material testing and push acceptance of treated material for various applications. Today, David, with help from his quality control assistant John, work diligently to ensure that every truckload of material, from every mine site, everyday leaves the site well within the required specifications.

Human Resources Generalist

As the Human Resources Generalist at Southwest Rock Products, LLC., it is Catherine’s responsibility to manage full cycle recruitment, payroll and benefits for one of the largest producers of construction aggregates in the southwestern United States. Successful small companies do not stay small for long and the need arose to advance how the company handled payroll, hiring and employee-relations. Catherine was a welcome addition to Southwest Rock Products, LLC.’s team in 2018 and she has been instrumental in improving the company’s human resource functions ever since. Catherine brings 10+ years of human resource experience, having worked with companies small and large. In her short time with Southwest Rock Products, LLC., Catherine has streamlined the recruitment and payroll systems for the company and has become a support system for field management personnel. With Catherine’s broad range of knowledge, experience and dedication to her craft, she is a valued and important component of Southwest Rock Products, LLC.’s continued growth.
